These strategic investments in infrastructure, automation, and logistics position Meridian as an industry leader while complementing our Group’s diverse technical service offerings.

Enhanced Fire Suppression Capabilities with Cryogenic Gas Storage

In February 2025, Meridian completed a major infrastructure upgrade at their 25,000 square foot Erith facility with the installation of new 50-ton cryogenic storage tanks and vaporizers. This enhanced system features:

• Upgraded gas delivery pipework
• Advanced pressure boosters
• Modernized control systems
• Capacity to complete batch fills of 48x 80-litre 300-bar inert gas cylinders simultaneously

This significant enhancement has effectively doubled Meridian’s throughput capacity compared to previous operations, enabling the company to handle larger volume orders and welcome new OEM clients. The fire suppression capabilities expansion is further supported by Meridian’s in-house fleet of ADR HGVs equipped with forklift trucks, ensuring seamless service delivery.

Revolutionary Automation Driving Fire Suppression Capabilities Expansion

March marked another milestone with the introduction of a new automated cylinder shot blasting machine, dramatically increasing production efficiency from 50 cylinders per day to an impressive 50 cylinders per hour.

This custom-designed technology:

• Automates cleaning of high-pressure gas cylinders to bare metal
• Enhances visual inspection capabilities
• Handles cylinders up to 460mm in diameter
• Reduces manual handling requirements

“This technological advancement strengthens our position as the leading supplier of service exchange cylinders to the fire suppression industry,” said the Meridian Technical Services Operations Director. “The investment future-proofs our operations as we continue to grow as the preferred supplier for both exchange and OEM new-fills.”

Logistics Enhancement Supporting Fire Suppression Services

Adding to their logistics capabilities, Meridian has secured a new 32-ton four-axle Mercedes Arocs, scheduled to enter service in September. This specialized vehicle features:

• Drop-side rigid ADR configuration
• Custom-specified Loadmac 825i Superreach forklift
• Capacity for 10 stillages (approximately 20 tons)
• Ability to carry 24 more cylinders per load than current vehicles

The expanded fleet, operated by Meridian’s in-house team of ADR drivers, significantly enhances the company’s ability to service customers throughout the UK with precise timing and reliability.
